Chester Theatre Club is offering the perfect opportunity to anyone who has dreamed of treading the boards.

Open auditions are being held at Chester Little Theatre for their September production on Thursday, June 16 for the comedy Outside Edge by Richard Harris.

Set against a cricketing background, it is more about domestic life, egos and personalities which keep impinging on the game.

The wonderful sunny afternoons, the sound of leather on willow, the luscious afternoon tea followed by the well-earned beers in the pub later – all are in the minds of the cricketers as they prepare for the match – but will it all collapse into chaos?

Richard Harris’s funny and very human play requires five men of various ages and four women to play their wives and girlfriends. There will be a reading of the play on Tuesday, June 14 where you can find out more.

As well as actors, the Little Theatre always welcomes people interested in working on the technical aspects of productions and helping backstage. The production dates are September 17-24.

The director is Margaret Bennett who won the Cheshire Theatre Guild award for Best Overall Production for her version of Entertaining Angels at the Little Theatre last season.
