Cheshire Rural Touring Arts (CRTA) has launched its autumn season of high quality professional performances in venues across West Cheshire.

CRTA is funded by Arts Council England and Cheshire West and Chester Council and Cheshire East Councils, to work with an army of volunteers who promote live professional performance events in small intimate community spaces across Cheshire.

Over the next few months, the scheme will travel to venues right across the area with a selection of shows.

A spoken word features in the programme with Chanje Kunda, as she takes the audience to Amsterdam. Humour, danger and mesmerising beauty combine in a show not to be missed at Chester Town Hall and the following night at Upton Village hall on October 17 and 18.

The season features a performance that musical lovers will enjoy. The Harmonettes: Dorothy’s War will be performed in The Trinity Church, Ellesmere Port on October 31. Dorothy’s War is told through songs of the First World War ranging from much loved favourites to forgotten gems all sung live in close-harmony.

There is also plenty on offer for families and children. My Teacher’s A Troll will be performed at Tarvin Community Centre on Friday, November 6, followed by a reworking of The Ugly Duckling and Letters Through Your Door also in December.

Expect the unexpected at Cuddington and Sandiway Village Hall on November 7 when the Opera Dudes bring an amazing night of cabaret, top quality entertainment, music and fun.

The season will draw to a close in January 2016 with Farnham Maltings’ festive retelling of It’s A Wonderful Life in St Mary’s Centre in Chester on January 15 and in Kelsall Community Centre the following evening.

Cabinet member for culture leisure and wellbeing, Cllr Louise Gittins, said: “CRTA have a network of 16 rural and urban venues across Cheshire West reaching all communities. The contribution of more than 100 volunteers to the CRTA make the performances happen.

“There are some wonderful shows heading our way. If you have not been to a performance, I urge you to go along.”

Tickets for all the shows are on sale now and are available from promoters at each venue.
