Waiters from the city’s bars and restaurants took to the streets for the Chester Waiter Race.

The race, which was organised by Laura Lautrete, general manager at Urbano32 on Bridge Street, saw staff from many of the city’s bars including Duttons, The Sandy Box, Moules a Go-Go, At The Hollows and Commonhall Social run up Bridge Street holding a tray of drinks.

Laura said: “I organised the waiter race after seeing the London one on Twitter. After a bit of further research I found out they have been going on since the 1930s. There are some lovely images online of races with waiters formally dressed on the Champs Elysee.

“I just thought it would be a nice way to get the bars and restaurants of Chester together to do something fun while at the same time raising a little money for Action Against Hunger.”

The race was won by joint winners Laura Carline from The Suburbs and Molly Marichal-Taylor from Commonhall Social.

Laura added: “It’s going to be a yearly event so hopefully next year’s race will be even bigger!”
