Port Sunlight Choral Society will perform Mozart’s much loved final work on Saturday, February 1 at St Saviour’s Church in Oxton.

This dramatic finale to the troubled genius’ life has long been a source of speculation, with Mozart dying, penniless, before he completed the work at the age of 35. Perhaps the most famous composer ever was subsequently buried as a pauper in a common grave.

New musical director Mark Humphreys-Green, said:  “Mozart’s Requiem is a melting pot of feverish drama, sublime tenderness and gorgeous pathos, which has made it one of his most popular works.

"The choir has worked really hard during their rehearsals and we have a line-up of excellent local soloists so we’re looking forward to an evening of enormous energy and excitement.”

The concert is at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at £10 (£9 concessions) with under 16s free, and are available on the door.

St Saviour's Church is on Bidston Road, Oxton.
