Chester Bach Singers and the 18th Century Sinfonia are joining forces to present Handel’s Messiah at Chester Cathedral later this month.

Composed in 1741 Messiah was first rehearsed in Chester, originally an Easter offering.

The concert, on Saturday, November 30 is at 7.30pm and the choir will be joined by four young soloists: soprano, Eleanor Gregory, who sings with the BBC Singers,The Tallis Scholars and Philharmonia Voices; Katie Bray, a graduate of the opera course at the Royal Academy of Music; tenor Richard Dowling, currently studying on the Royal Academy of Music’s Opera Course and young bass-baritone, Louis Hurst, studying at the RNCM.

Martin Bussey will conduct this magnificent oratotio, accompanied by performance on period instruments.
