Mowbird are a surf-punk quartet from Wrexham who will be performing live at Telford’s Warehouse in Chester on Friday, February 5.

Formed by Ben Sawin (vocals/guitar) and Mike Smith (bass) with the later additions of Suzanne Dempsey (organ/vocals) and Ben Valentine Trow (drums/vocals), they self recorded and self released four EPs (Excellent, OK; Ilk; We Sell Maternity Swimwear; and The Quiet Despair Of The Starship Enterprise) before signing to Cardiff based Shape Records.

Debut album Islander was released in February 2014, preceded by single Happy Active Horse Organ which garnered radio play by Huw Stephens (Radio 1), Bethan Elfyn & Adam Walton (BBC Radio Wales) as well as Tom Ravenscroft and Marc Riley (6music), the latter for whom the band recorded a session and led to a collaboration with fellow Welsh popster Sweet Baboo in 2015.
