Jennifer Davies - remember the name.

For this Chester singer-songwriter and producer is creating a real buzz in the music world and is being tipped for big things in 2015 on the strength of her debut EP and the videos she has created to go with it.

The former Upton High pupil credits her old school for ‘massively’ encouraging her to follow her passion for music and songwriting.

Her family still lives in Upton but Jennifer herself is now based in Liverpool where she does most of her recording.

Jennifer said: “My EP was written and recorded with Tord Knudsen who is in Liverpool band The Wombats. They have their third studio album coming out this year.

“At the end of January I’ll be releasing the final video from the Lapse Of Time EP ahead of releasing my first official single at the end of April and an album later next year.

“All the videos for the EP have been directed by Peter Wormleighton who is also from Chester and is a former King’s School pupil. We have created all the videos with a very small team of people all based in and around the North West.”

Jennifer has been signed by AATW/Universal records although her my EP was released through her own imprint called Studiio which she set up with Peter Wormleighton.

“We did this because creative control is extremely important to me as an artist. Our label is something I’m excited about developing and I hope that as my career progresses, we can build the label into something special too.

“My dream is to offer local artists a platform from which to release their music. When I started out in the music industry I knew nothing and no one. It’s taken years of work and I’m still only just starting to get where I want to be.

“I really hope that within a couple of years time Peter and I will be in a position where we can help other artists with what we have learned so far.”

Last month, Jennifer was invited to Los Angeles to work with Ivor Novello winning songwriter Chris Braide after he heard her EP. He has written songs for Britney Spears, Beyonce, Lana Del Rey and Sia to name just a few.

“Bizarrely he is originally from Cheshire so we had loads in common!” said Jennifer. “I’ve written two songs with him for my album which will be released at the end of next year as well as continuing to write with Tord of course.

“Working out in America was such an incredible experience and I was hugely flattered that someone such as Chris picked me from obscurity online.”
