An evening of fine melodic, swinging jazz is in store for audiences at the Royal British Legion, Llay, near Wrexham on Tuesday (June 10) when violinist Don May takes the stand, as North Wales Jazz continues its current season of weekly concerts at the venue.

Playing in the style of Stephane Grappelli, Don is an extremely popular figure on the regional jazz scene.

A highly versatile musician and renowned as a solo artist, he also appears with such diverse groups as the enormously successful classical orchestra the St Helens Symphonietta, his own ceilidh band, a Django style quartet, The Hot Four, a folk orientated trio and a group featuring jazz style improvisations over classical rhythms.

For his North Wales performance, Don May will be joined by the first-class North Wales Jazz Quartet, featuring Andy Hulme (guitar), Dave Saltrese (keyboards), Frank Grime (double bass)

and Andy Bold (drums).

The music commences at 8.30pm and admission is £6.50, concessions £5.50, school children £3. Call 01745 812260 or visit www.northwalesjazz.org.uk.
