Two iconic folk and acoustic acts of international acclaim - Seth Lakeman and Karine Polwart - will appear with their bands and headline this year's 10th Wirral Folk Festival of music, dance, art and poetry.

Seth Lakeman is one of the Lakeman Brothers from the West Country and Karine Polwart is a beautiful singer from Scotland who made her name as a member of the band Malinky.

This four-day festival will again take place at Whitby Sports and Social Club in Dunkirk Lane, Ellesmere Port, from June 5-8.

A high quality line-up of artists will appear at the five main stage concerts and at the Fringe events.

They will include Martyn Joseph, The Young’Uns, members of the iconic folk band The Spinners, Hughie Jones and Mick Groves, with Count John McCormick, The Poozies - one member of which, Sally Barker, was recently the losing finalist in the BBC TV talent show The Voice  - and Buzz Hawkins who is better known on BBC local radio as the voice of The Bradshaws.

BBC Folk Award winners in 2013 and 2014 Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar, Irish band The House Devils and Seth Lakeman’s guest Lisbee Stainton are some of the other names.

More than 130 performers will be taking part at this all on one site festival.

Fringe events will include mini concerts, singalong and singaround sessions, watercolour painting and a craft fair.

Training workshops will be held in acoustic guitar, bodhran, harmonica and ukulele, singing, poetry, songwriting, traditional tunes and morris dance displays.

Specialist concerts will also feature the music of Donovan, The Beatles and George Formby plus an ‘F’ Factor Talent Showcase.
