Alexander’s in Chester has announced it is to hold a tribute concert to tragic Cheshire band Viola Beach on the night they were due to play the city centre venue.

All four members of the Warrington band - Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe and Jack Dakin - and their manager Craig Tarry died when the car they were travelling in plunged into a Swedish canal in a road accident in Stockholm on February 13.

Viola Beach were due to play at Alexander’s on Thursday, April 14 and the Chester venue has decided to mark the occasion by staging a tribute show.

Liverpool’s Fly On The Wall Records signees Polar States will perform alongside Psyblings and Olly Thornton - who were close friends of the band - and Chester’s own Seegulls and Herbivore Men.

Entry on the night is £2 and donations are encouraged. All money raised from tickets will go to the families of those who were killed in the accident.
