A popular Handbridge pub is under new management.

Lance and Leanne Warburton have taken on a new challenge with The Ship Inn after leaving their former pub, The Bird in Hand in Guilden Sutton, and have some exciting plans for their new premises.

The pub closed for a full refurbishment of the bar, restaurant and kitchen and officially reopened on November 26.

Leanne told The Chronicle: “We were attracted to The Ship Inn for its great location. Handbridge is a thriving community and we believe that with the refurbishment we can bring The Ship back to its former glory and get it back on the map.

“We aim to offer good beer including five real ales, craft beers and fine wines and our food offering is all locally sourced and home cooked.”

“We opened last week and so far the response has been fantastic,” she added.

Leanne and Lance have more than 15 years experience in Chester pubs and even made it into the Good Beer Guide 2016 with a certificate of excellence from Trip Advisor at their last pub.

“At The Ship, we will be introducing quiz nights, themed food evenings and live music, the first of which will be Chris Fletcher this Saturday December 5),” said Leanne.

“We’re really hoping that with our passion for pubs and our commitment to customer service we will make The Ship the place to be!”
