Chester’s new dining quarter is filling up with two out of four restaurants now up-and-running and the third to follow next month.

Tex-Mex restaurant Chimichanga was the first to open at the Pepper Street complex creating 20 jobs in a colourful environment that conjures up images of Mexico.

Set over two floors, the eaterie has seating for 150 guests, plus seating for a further 30 guests on an external terrace and a small balcony at first floor level, The extensive menu features classic favourites; burritos, tostadas, enchiladas, quesadilias and fajitas, as well as an extensive grill section, featuring barbecue baby back ribs, flame grilled piri piri chicken and sirloin steak.

Coast to Coast

Next door, Coast to Coast has just opened, creating 45 jobs, where guests can experience 'a gastronomic adventure' from the east to west coast of America, with dishes and cocktails inspired by recipes from across the pond. Green leather benches and dark wood tables make for a upmarket feel with plentiful outdoor seating to the front.

Burgers are made from freshly pressed beef and served with fries and spicy ketchup. Pizzas are served Chicago style with a wide range of tasty toppings. Steaks, sizzling fajitas, Chicago wings, Boston Prawns and BBQ boards may also prove tempting. Cocktails range from a classic Mojito to the more adventurous Peanut Butter Martini.

Restaurant general manager Rob Smith commented: “We are thrilled to be opening our sixteenth Coast to Coast in Chester. With a delicious menu packed with tasty American inspired dishes, as well as a fantastic range of cocktails served up in a relaxed atmosphere, we hope people will want to return time and time again.”

On the menu

Meanwhile, South American restaurant Las Iguanas, which will cater for 170 diners and create 40 new jobs, has announced that it will open on September 28 complete with a roof top terrace.

Completing the line-up will be the Restaurant Bar & Grill, owned by Individual Restaurants, which also runs Piccolino on the opposite side of Pepper Street.

However, there has been a delay to the schedule and The Chronicle understands it won’t now open until early next year although this has not been officially confirmed. The chain, which will feature an extensive raised outdoor seating to the rear, promises “classic and inspired seasonal cooking, amazing steaks and brilliant cocktails to match.”
