A huge superstore is gearing up to host the 25th anniversary of the world’s biggest coffee morning.

The event, at M&S Cheshire Oaks on Friday, will raise vital funds for the company’s charity partner Macmillan Cancer Support.

Shoppers are invited to join in the fun to help raise funds for Macmillan.

The café will be transformed into a magical Alice in Wonderland-inspired Mad Hatter’s tea party with staff dressing as the characters from Alice including the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts and the White Rabbit in the hope of raising more funds than ever before for Macmillan.

This is the sixth year M&S has supported the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and the retailer has raised more than over £4m for Macmillan.

Store manager Simon Layton said: “We hope this year will be our most successful yet especially as it marks the 25th anniversary of World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

“We’ve got lots planned to raise vital funds for this very worthy cause. We look forward to welcoming people through our doors for what promises to be a fun-filled day.”

Fundraising efforts have been under way since the start of the month and will continue until the end of September.

Throughout this time, 10% of the proceeds from Macmillan coffee morning products sold in the food hall will go to the charity and the store’s cafés have been donating 5p from every cup of coffee and slice of cake sold and will continue to do so until the end of the month.
