A new restaurant chain opening today in Chester celebrated with a samba carnival on Saturday.

Las Iguanas opens on Pepper Street on Monday, September 28 as part of the new city dining quarter.

Eastgate Street was filled with Latin American music from Karamba Samba and dancing from Urban Fusion in celebration as shoppers were given vouchers to try the new menu.

Members of the public were photographed for the chance of winning a £100 meal voucher and the winner was Ffion Jones from North Wales.

A VIP evening will be held on Wednesday, September 30 and the opening week has begun with 2-4-1 on all dishes between noon - 5pm Monday to Thursday, providing guests with the opportunity to try new dishes and experience the new restaurant.

The restaurant is also giving away 100 free burritos on Saturday and Sunday to the first 100 people that arrive at the restaurants.

General Manager Carolina Navarrete said: “The whole team is very excited to be open in Chester and be able to bring Latin American inspired food and drinks to the city. We had a great time at the launch event, we hope everyone enjoyed getting a feel of what Las Iguanas has to offer. The restaurant is a true reflection of Latin American life and we are thrilled to show the people of Chester what it is all about.”

The menu includes Mexican fajitas, burritos and enchiladas, Brazilian XinXim curry and succulent burgers. All dishes are made freshly to order, and the variety of traditional-with-a-twist sauces and salsas are homemade every day. There is also a separate veggie and vegan menu available, as well as a dedicated kids menu.
