A pub in Bostock Green has opened its doors to customers.

Landlord Chris Beswick and staff welcomed people to the Hayhurst Arms, a new Brunning and Price pub.

The pub is on the site of the old social club which closed its doors in 2012, which was later acquired by the Chester pub company who have spent the last six months on a transformation of the property, connecting the former social club to some historic barns at the rear of the building.

The Hayhurst Arms is a now classic country pub in style, with open fires, wooden floors, old furniture and lots of rugs and plants. At the heart of the pub, centred on the well-stocked bar, is a large and airy room with a chatty and civilised atmosphere, with some more intimate rooms to squirrel away in for those who are so inclined.

Chris said: “It’s hugely rewarding to see how well it has turned out. It’s a very handsome building with character in spades, warm and cosy in the winter, but light and airy when the sun shines, and over looking the village green we have a large terrace and gardens which will be a fine place for a spot of lunch with friends and family.”

Food will be an important part of the Hayhurst Arm’s business.

Chris continued: “We’re foodies at heart. Our menu has a good backbone of classic British dishes with a smattering of other dishes and influences from around the world to keep things interesting. It’s what you might call modern British cooking.”

Village newsletter editor Sally-Anne Rogers said: “Absolutely delighted to see the Hayhurst Arms spring to life after months of meticulous renovation. Everyone is thrilled to have somewhere so inviting to regularly catch up with each other; manager Chris, wife Louise and baby Noah have already been adopted into the community.”

Chris said: “Some 40 local people have joined the crew and we’ve already been made to feel really welcome by the village. It’s very friendly round here and I know we’re going to be really happy to have settled in such a lovely place.”
