A Chester hotel is one of the top 10 city hotels in the UK according to a national newspaper.

Edgar House, nestled within the City Walls overlooking the River Dee, is a Top 10 City Hotel in the Sunday Times top 100 for the second year running.

The rest of the top 10 is made up of five hotels in London, and one each in Brighton, Bath, Manchester and Edinburgh.

The independently owned boutique riverside hotel has been open for two and a half years. In February this year the hotel was named 11th best place in world to stay according to TripAdvisor.

In the past 12 months owners Mike Stephen and Tim Mills have completed two additional luxury bedrooms and opened the restaurant for dinner and Sunday lunch.

Mike said: “It’s incredible, and we’ve had to pinch ourselves. We love what we do, and we are passionate about making our all of our overnight guests, and our restaurant guests, feel special and spoilt.

“We’re just over the moon with the response, and with this accolade.”

Tim said: “We also can’t do this by ourselves, and we want to say a big thank you to everyone in our wonderful team. Our new restaurant team has made a fantastic difference to the dining experience this year, looked after by head chef Neil Griffiths and restaurant manager Aden Brewis."
