It's nearly that time of year again.

The Boodles May Festival at Chester Racecourse is just weeks away and if you're planning on heading to the Roodee for a flutter, you'll no doubt be wanting to make the most of your day, and that includes a slap up meal.

The White Horse has a prime position on the course, overlooking the pre-parade ring and a short walk from the winner's enclosure.

And if you fancy lunch before the races, staff can hold your table all day so you can come and go as you please. Racing is also shown live on the TVs.

This secret cocktail bar with no signs is so exclusive you'll need to knock on the door to go inside.

It takes its inspiration from the prohibition era of 1920s America, with a sultry and moody atmosphere to match. Even the menu is hidden in a book.

There is limited seating but if you get there early enough it's worth it because the cocktails are amazing.

The Architect

This conveniently placed pub restaurant overlooks the racecourse so it's a very popular choice for revellers on race days.

The large, outdoor picnic seating area is perfect to have a drink after (or before) the races on those long summer nights.

Inside is a cosy dining room featuring fabulous Chester views and serving tasty food. You might just want to stay there all night!
