A pizza store in Chester has thrown its support behind ITV’s festive fundraiser and is inviting people to join in the goodwill as it plans a party for 100 local pizza lovers.

The money raised by the Papa John’s store at Sumner House in Delamere Street will be donated to ITV’s Christmas charity appeal, Text Santa, which gives hope to families in difficulty at Christmas.

This year, the appeal is supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, Make-A-Wish® UK and Save the Children, with the focus being all about fun festive knitwear as it asks everyone to get out their favourite Christmas woolly.

The ITV Text Santa Pizza Party will take place at the Papa John’s store on Tuesday, December 1, from noon-5pm. The first 100 customers to come through the doors will receive a free pizza.

Guests will be able to choose from either a small cheese and tomato or pepperoni pizza and for a donation may also receive an ITV Text Santa badge.

Paper Johns in Chester is raising money for the Text Santa Appeal

Papa John’s is setting a minimum donation of £3 for the pizzas with all the money going to charity. The store will also be donating 50p from all XXL pizzas sold during the festive period.

Store manager Stephen Mullarkey said: “ITV’s Text Santa is a fantastic appeal that raises awareness about an important issue in a fun and friendly way. We’re delighted that we can play a part in this national appeal.

“The team will also be wearing their favourite festive jumpers as part of the appeal’s theme of doing their bit in a Christmas knit.”

ITV’s Text Santa appeal sees the stars of ITV, including Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Amanda Holden, and Paddy McGuinness, celebrate Christmas Jumper Day in a three-hour TV spectacular on Friday, December 18.

The appeal hopes to inspire a whole army of fundraisers to raise more money than ever before.

The money raised will go towards funding nurses and other essential workers so people affected by cancer get the support they need, granting wishes to enrich the lives of children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions and transforming children’s lives here and abroad to give hope to families in difficulty at Christmas.
