A new riverside restaurant has opened in Chester.

The team behind multi award-winning hotel Edgar House has unveiled Twenty2, named after its location at the hotel at 22 City Walls.

Local VIPs, including Lord Mayor of Chester Cllr Hugo Deynem and Taste Cheshire CEO Stephen Wundke, were wined and dined with a special seven-course tasting menu during a pre-launch evening on November 11.

Director of Chester.com Diane Jefford described her experience as ‘amazing’ and said 'Chester’s little gem just got even better'.

Head chef Neil Griffiths explained the concept behind Twenty2.

“It is simple: to combine beautiful food with beautiful surroundings,” he said.

“Quality is at the heart of everything at Twenty2, and only the best seasonal ingredients will do.

“All of the dishes come from my passion to create a dining experience rather than just a meal, and this is as much about how each dish looks on your plate as it is about flavours and textures.

“And of course the experience isn’t only about the food… The serving team at Twenty2 is also here to make all of our customers feel special and spoilt.”

The launch of Twenty2 rounds off a phenomenal year for Edgar House, having earned a string of accolades all in the space of a few weeks.

The 19th century villa was named number 18 in Trivago’s Top 20 Hotels in the UK and number 4 in their Top North West Hotels, as well as making The Good Hotel Guide and the top 10 city hotels in the Sunday Times’ top 100 for the second year running.

Aden Brewis, restaurant manager at Twenty2, added: “It’s been many months in the planning, and now we’re ready with fantastic menus, stand-out wines, and a team to be proud of.”

Twenty2 is open Wednesday to Saturday for A la Carte dinner and Chef’s 7-course Tasting Menu, Saturday afternoons for Afternoon Tea and Sundays for Proper Sunday Lunch.

It will donate £2 from every Afternoon Tea sold to Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.
