A craft beer taproom aiming ‘to save the world from bland, boring beer’ has launched in Helsby.

The Beer Heroes shop also offers a huge range of ales from the UK, Europe and beyond.

Husband-and-wife Carl and Kelly Ball have opened to the public at their premises at Helsby Train Station on Station Road.

Up until now their business had all been done online.

Carl said: “The feedback we’ve had has been great. There has been fantastic support from the community.

“I think people like the choice. If you go into a traditional pub you are restricted in what you can have.

“We do a lot of research into what’s trending and don’t have to stock anything we don’t like.”

The business started online as beerheroes.com four years ago in Northwich, before Carl and Kelly found their new warehouse in Helsby.

Now they can offer more than 200 different bottles in the shop, which opened on November 5.

The taproom also gives beer lovers the chance to sample some brews on draught.

Carl said both his and Kelly’s love of beer made it easier to put in the hard work to grow their company.

He said: “If you are passionate about your business and your work it shows.

“We thought the Helsby base needed a taproom so we’ve opened it up to the public.

“It’s a different challenge, but it already has a great community feel.”
