A NEW exhibition showing rare original artifacts and memorabilia from some of the world’s most famous science fiction movies is now open.

Spaceport, based at Seacombe Ferry Terminal in Wirral, hosts Sci Fi at the Movies, a spectacular five month exhibition, which gives sci-fi and film fans a unique opportunity to some never before seen movie memorabilia and some iconic superheroes and villains.

Running until March 30, Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture Year, the exhibition displays original models of Dobby the house elf, from the Harry Potter films, Gremlins, Gollum from Lord of the Rings, a life-size version of Jabba the Hut, the villain from the Star Wars films and a creepy climax with the evil Darth Vader.

Other artifacts and models from Spider-Man, Alien, Predator, E.T. and Batman will also be on display.

The showcase includes a Comic Book Heroes zone, a Star Wars zone with C3PO and R2D2, an Alien and Predator zone and a Star Trek zone, with original costumes.

Complete with weaponry and costumes from the films, the exhibition will give visitors an amazing insight into the films’ history and character profiles, plus some little known film trivia.

The single entrance fee includes the exhibition, along with all of Spaceport's other galleries and shows.

Spaceport is open from 10am-6pm on both days of the weekend (last entrance 90 minutes before closing) and pre-booking is not available for this event.

Tickets will cost £8.50 per adult, £5.50 per child and £24 for a family (two adults and up to three children). Concessions cost £6.
