TV viewers glued to their television screens over the festive season might have recognised a few Chester faces.

Former students of The King’s School appeared on the schedule in a vast array of programmes from The Apprentice to the hugely successful Gogglebox.

Anthony Fletcher, who left King’s in 2000, appeared as a guest on the 10th BBC2 episode of this year’s The Apprentice: You’re Fired at the beginning of December. As CEO of the successful snack company Graze, Anthony was invited along to the panel to discuss the shortcomings of the latest Apprentice contestant at the time to get the dreaded ‘You’re Fired’ from Lord Sugar.

Actor Ronald Pickup left The Kings School in 1959

Actor Ronald Pickup, a King’s alumnus from 1959 who made an appearance as Sir Michael Reresby in the sixth series of Downton Abbey, was given a prime time slot on Film 4 on Christmas Eve appearing next to the likes of Dames Judi Dench and Maggie Smith in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

Leon Bernicoff, who left the then independent boys school in 1953, starred in the hit TV show Gogglebox Highlights Special on Channel 4 on December 28, which looked back across the best moments from the show in 2015..

TV vet Steve Leonard, another famous alumnus, appeared on our screens on New Year’s Eve in Panda Babies, aired on ITV at 8:30pm. In the programme, Steve travelled to China to visit a panda breeding nursery.
