Crews for ITV wartime drama Home Fires will be filming in Chester during Friday.

Chester Town Hall is set to provide a backdrop for the show starring Francesca Annis and Samantha Bond with shooting taking place inside and out.

They are expected to be in the city centre all day for those interested in getting a glimpse.

Tarporley has been used as a setting for the programme’s upcoming second series already this month.

Most of the filming has taken place in Bunbury, as it did for the original series.

Home Fires tells the story of a group of inspirational women bringing their rural village together.

When in Tarporley, a crew member said the village was chosen as a set because they required few changes to look authentic to the 1940s.

She said: “There is less for us to do as places like this have changed very little.

“Aside from the obvious modern additions like cars, Tarporley does look like a wartime village.”

The show has been a ratings success for ITV with an average 6.2m viewers and a 24% audience share on Sunday evenings.
