CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER (12A)

GERMAN defector Dr Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci) is spearheading a secret programme to create the ultimate soldier. He chooses asthmatic weakling Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) as the perfect candidate for the treatment. Steve is transformed into a muscle-bound hunk. Steve joins forces with playboy inventor Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) and officer Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to parachute in behind enemy lines as Captain America and single-handedly take on the Germans.

CARS 2 (U)

LIGHTNING McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) returns home as the four-time champion of the Piston Cup. Best friend Mater (Larry The Cable Guy) welcomes him back as does girlfriend Sally Carrera (Bonnie Hunt). Italian racing car Francesco Bernoulli (John Turturro) goads Lightning into participating in a new championship organised by environmentalist Miles Axlerod (Eddie Izzard). However, rogue cars led by the diabolical Professor Zundapp (Thomas Kretschmann) are plotting to sabotage the races.

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 2 (12A)

THE final chapter of JK Rowling’s epic story opens with Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) stealing the Elder Wand from Dumbledore’s grave. Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) continue their mission to track down the final Horcruxes, which contain fragments of Voldemort’s blackened soul.

HORRIBLE BOSSES (15)

NICK Hendricks (Jason Bateman) is an underling at a finance company, ruled by Dave Harken (Kevin Spacey. Kurt Buckman (Jason Sudeikis) loves his job at a company run by Jack Pellitt (Donald Sutherland), who treats Kurt as more of a son than the fruit of his loins, Bobby (Colin Farrell). Jack suffers a heart attack and Bobby seizes control of the company. Meanwhile, dental assistant Dale Arbus (Charlie Day) is sexually harassed by his boss, Dr Julia Harris (Jennifer Aniston). When jailbird Dean Jones (Jamie Foxx) plants the idea of seemingly accidental deaths the three men are intrigued.

HORRID HENRY: THE MOVIE (U)

HENRY (Theo Stevenson) is a lazy boy with dreams of pop stardom, who runs rings around his Mum (Siobhan Hayes) and Dad (Mathew Horne). A series of pranksthreatens the future of Ashdown Primary School and long-suffering headteacher Miss Oddbod (Rebecca Front). So Henry grimly faces the prospect of attending the local private school run by Vic Van Wrinkle (Richard E Grant).

MR POPPER’S PENGUINS (PG)

THOMAS (Jim Carrey) is a workaholic real estate developer. In order to secure promotion, Thomas must persuade Mrs Van Gundy (Angela Lansbury) to sell the Tavern On The Green restaurant in Central Park. While he attempts to close the deal, he receives his inheritance: six Gentoo penguins, which take over his life.

SUPER 8 (12A)

TEENAGER Joe Lamb (Joel Courtney) is struggling to come to terms with the death of his mother. The youngster is making a low-budget zombie film with his friends. They head to the local rail station to shoot a night-time sequence. Just as the camera starts rolling they witness a truck drive on to the tracks and derail an oncoming freight train. As they escape, they are oblivious to the monstrous creature crawling free from the wreckage.

ZOOKEEPER (PG)

GRIFFIN Keyes (Kevin James) is humiliated when his sweetheart Stephanie (Leslie Bibb) rebuffs a marriage proposal. Five years later, Griffin is head keeper at Franklin Park Zoo and Stephanie walks back into Griffin’s life. The animals, led by Joe the lion (Sylvester Stallone) and Janet the lioness (Cher), break their silence to help Griffin win back Stephanie.
