The Chester Film Co-op is showcasing some of the best art and film work from recent university graduates in their new show Emerging Talent after inviting film and video submissions from graduates from the North West.

A selection of the region’s top talent will be shown in Studio 1 between now and September 10.

Based in the Northgate Quarter, the Chester Film Co-op is a creative place for film-makers and artists to meet, make films, and share ideas. The initiative is part of the RE:NEW project to develop and transform the Grade II listed Odeon building into a new cultural centre.

As well as screening films in their Northgate Street gallery, the co-op are hosting an entertaining and inspiring range of installations throughout the next few months in Studio Two.

The co-op is keen to support local artistic talent and those interested in filmmaking. Over the past year they have hosted arts workshops with Chester Library and community arts company Art In The Place and screened films by internationally recognised artists Paul Rooney and Imogen Stidworthy.

Councillor Samantha Dixon said: “Join the co-op to be the first to see the eclectic selection of films from up and coming artists and film makers.

“They range from animation and documentary to narrative lead pieces - there is something for everyone.”
