Much-loved stars from popular 90's TV show 'Gladiators' will unite at Tattenhall 's Bolesworth estate today to prepare for an exciting competition to be hosted at the venue next month.

Supermodel Jodie Kidd is set to host the adrenalin-fuelled 'Battle of Bolesworth' featuring household names like Hunter, Jet, Lightning, Ace and Saracen at the four-day annual event on Saturday June 20, which will see the family favourites compete against eight invited teams to battle it out in the main arena.

Well-known games will include Dual, Atkaspheres and The Eliminator, and the instantly recognisable voice of the show John Anderson will be compering the action.

The competition will provide pre-concert entertainment for live music performances from bands Scouting For Girls and Alula, a three-piece band made up of Darby Ward, the daughter of Real Housewives of Cheshire star Dawn and former Manchester City player Ashley Ward, and her friends Holly Ellison and Ella Coleman.

And scenes for the next series of the reality show are set to be filmed at the event.

Athlete James Crossley, who was best known to audiences as Gladiator 'Hunter' for nine years and was crowned 'The Ultimate Gladiator' in the 'final showdown' in 1999, said:

"Some of the guys I have kept in touch with, and some I haven't seen for quite a long time, so it will be great to be back together at Bolesworth Castle, the 4 day schedule for the show looks incredible.

"We had a little reunion last week, which was part of a show about former Saturday night TV programmes, and Wolf flew over from New Zealand, which was fantastic.

"The show was David versus Goliath, and everyone likes Super Heroes. At our peak, we had 18 million viewers, which was incredible really," he added.

"In the last show of the ITV series we did Gladiators versus Gladiators, going back to Roman days to have the ultimate winner. I remember I did the whole show with a dislocated shoulder! It was the last show, so I thought I might as well go for it."

Other entertainment on the bill for next month's event which runs from June 18-21, includes a dramatic dressage performance set to music and a glamorous fashion show with designers Cleo B, Man To Man, Sally Ellis of S’ve and equestrian brand Equiline.

There will also be a carnival themed opening ceremony on the Thursday as well as an Elite Horse auction, gala dinner and puissance, cocktail parties, camel-racing, a Sheep Grand National and even world-championship jet-skiing stunts on the lake at Bolesworth Castle.
