A transport festival is taking place at the Anderton Boat Lift this weekend (July 23-24).

The grounds will be transformed by classic cars, scooters, vintage Japanese and BSA motorcycles between 10am-4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Tame Valley Vintage and Classic Car Club will be displaying some of its classic cars, the Potteries Omnibus Preservation Society will be bringing its iconic 1968 Leyland Leopard bus and the Vintage Japanese Motor Club will showcase Kawasaki motorbikes. Dennis Menace Racing will also be showing off the sleek lines of its British F2 sidecars.

The event is free and visitors can enjoy the vehicles, which will be displayed on the terraced grounds leading down to the giant Anderton Boat Lift and River Weaver as well as near the entrance overlooking the Trent & Mersey Canal.

Also available free of charge is the play area and the interactive exhibition on the history of the lift. Visitors can also visit the shop and the tree-top coffee shop.
