Delamere Forest 's famous Santa's Grotto will shut for the day because of predicted high winds.

Father Christmas and his reindeer will be seeking shelter on Saturday (December 5).

The Met Office has forecast gusts of more than 50mph and issued a severe weather warning, meaning the grotto is closed for health and safety reasons.

Also shut are the tree sales centre, visitor centre and car parks.

A Forestry Commission spokesman said Sunday's opening times are unaffected at the moment, but this could change if the winds persist.

Usually the Grotto will be open from 10am-5pm at the weekend with the queue closing at 3pm. Entry is £5 per child and £2 for adults.
