Chester based youth arts, education and development organisation Minerva Arts are launching two great opportunities for young people in Cheshire this summer.

The first will be Telling Stories, the third year of the highly successful Lynk Cheshire summer school, a collaborative youth theatre project with Express Youth Theatre from Warrington and this year, Chester based dance crew Breakdance.

After two successful years, young people aged 7 to 18 will come together again to create an unforgettable performance. Workshops will take place across three different venues across Cheshire giving even more young people the opportunity to be part of the action.

Workshops will be held at:

August 16 - Pyramid and Parr Hall Arts Centre, Warrington

August 17 - Castlefield Community Centre, Runcorn

August 18 - University of Chester Kingsway Campus, Chester.

Minerva Arts artistic director Steph Meskell-Brocken spoke of Lynk Cheshire being “a hugely important project, not just for Minerva Arts but for all our partners and all those who are passionate about strengthening the arts for young people in Cheshire, and providing opportunities for them to take their skills to the next level.

“We are proud to be leading this project for the third year and look forward to welcoming more partners and, hopefully, further support to help us develop this project.”

As well as Lynk, this year Minerva Arts is also partnering with Encompass Collective Dance Company to bring a free two day contemporary dance experience to young people aged 14-25.

This project, called Dance Intensive, will be held on August 18 and 19 at the Kingsway Campus and is funded through Minerva Arts part in the National Active Youth programme with UK Youth. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone who is starting a new dance course in September, wants to refresh their skills or just wants to try something new for the summer.

Places on Dance Intensive are open to all and information on registering can be found on the Minerva Arts website www.minervaarts.com.

Lynk Cheshire also has a limited number of places open to young people not currently attending the partner groups.
