Final preparations are under way at the Forum Studio Theatre in Chester as the curtain is set rise on Tip Top Productions’ lavish staging of their traditional family friendly pantomime.

Since bringing panto back to Chester in 2009, Tip Top’s spectacular Christmas offering has become a firm favouite in the city’s festive calendar of events.

This year’s show Aladdin runs at the city centre venue until January 4 with some dates already sold out.

Written by panto veteran Peter Swingler OBE especially for a local audience and with plenty of topical gags thrown in, Aladdin promises to be fun for all ages as the audience is invited to boo, hiss, laugh and cheer as the story of Aladdin and the magical lamp unfolds.

Expect the usual mix of corny jokes, slapstick, and plenty of popular songs to sing along to including some from Disney’s smash hit Frozen.

Director Steve Davies has brought together an experienced cast which includes Chester-based actors Kevin Keegan and John Lindop.

Bill Hughes (King of Siam in last year’s King and I at Clwyd Theatr Cymru) also joins the cast and making a welcome return is Phil Edwards as Widow Twankey along with the children’s favourite Dan Ellis as Wishee Washee.

With tickets available from £9, there are generous discounts for families.
