Country sports and pursuits at their very best can be seen at the Cheshire Game and Country Fair at the Cheshire Country Showground at Tabley over the August Bank Holiday weekend (August 27-29).

In the large Andy Singleton arena there will be Heat 7 of the UK Horse Boarding Championships, a fast, entertaining extreme equestrian discipline against the clock.

Joining them are the horses with two riders of the Scurry Trials Driving Championship, presenting a different style of horse and carriage driving against the clock.

Arena entertainment includes sheepdog displays, gundog and shooting displays and Simon Whitehead from Pakefield Ferrets with his furry friends.

A new World of Dogs arena caters for the dog lovers among you, with dog display teams, gundog displays, breed displays and an opportunity to get involved with Chase the Bunny.

Another popular arena is the falconry headed up by Chris Neal, The Cheshire Hawking Club and four other professional falconers. Watch these magnificent birds of prey in flight.

The English Open Chainsaw Carving Competition is now in its 12th year, attracting carvers from around the world. There are twice daily 30 minute speed carving sessions and the Classic and Competition Sculptures.
