Ruby Barnhill is used to being around a giant by now.

The 12-year-old is the star of new movie The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) and she went along to Tatton Park to meet a wicker version of the character at the RHS Flower Show.

The show garden, which is themed around Roald Dahl's famous children's book, with the new film, produced by Steven Spielberg, released this summer.

British actors Mark Rylance, Penelope Wilton and Rebecca Hall star alongside Ruby, who plays the main character, Sophie.

Ruby Barnhill – who plays lead character Sophie in this summer’s blockbuster movie, The BFG – attended Tatton’s show garden, themed around the famous Roald Dahl book.

Ruby visited the garden to present her Dream Jar, which will form part of a new public art installation - The BFG Dream Jar Trail - which is raising money for Save the Children.

The Tatton show garden is part of a year-long programme of events and activities at Tatton Park in 2016, celebrating 100 years since Roald Dahl’s birth; Roald Dahl’s Tremendous Adventures at Tatton.

Created by head gardener Simon Tetlow and team, the garden is inspired by Dream Country, the magical place where The BFG takes 10-year- old Sophie and catches dreams.

Knutsford-born Ruby said: “I’m a huge fan of The BFG – and playing Sophie was a dream come true! It’s great to be here at the RHS Show and to visit this BFG- inspired garden at Tatton. I love reading and The BFG is one of my favourite books. "
