A free family pass for four to this year’s Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool bike ride is up for grabs, encouraging the whole family to hit the road on two wheels and gear up to a summer challenge.

Now in its 23rd year the event, which is annually supported by Merseytravel, will take place on Sunday, July 3. It includes a variety of courses suitable for children, beginners and experienced cyclists and the lucky winner will be able to select the challenge to suit them.

With four distances over six different routes ranging from five to 100 miles, the course meanders through many of the region’s picturesque locations.

Perfect for beginners and those with young families, the Five Mile Family Tunnel Ride allows families to cycle through the Birkenhead tunnel, traffic free, from Liverpool to Birkenhead, then returning back through the tunnel to the finish line.

Cyclists can also select a 25-mile route, starting at Countess of Chester Health Park and cycling through North Cheshire and Wirral before finishing at the Birkenhead tunnel. Alternatively, cyclists can cycle 25 miles from Liverpool to Chester finishing at the Countess of Chester Health Park.

For a bigger challenge, select the 50-mile bike ride where you again have the choice of starting and finishing in Chester on the Chester circular route or cycling Liverpool–Chester–Liverpool.

The ultimate 100-mile cycle is for those looking for a real test. This route includes the beautiful Chester countryside, including Delamere Forest – and plenty of hills!

Whichever route the winning family select, with 4,000 people expected to take part in this year’s event, it is expected to be a great day out.

The Liverpool-Chester-Liverpool bike ride’s official charity beneficiary for 2016 is North West charity Claire House Children’s Charity for the fifth consecutive year.
