Thousands of fans queued up for the chance to meet their favourite stars from the world of film, TV, comics and gaming at the weekend.

The Wales Comic Convention, held in the grounds of Glyndwr University in Wrexham , pulled in the crowds from far and wide.

Some of this year’s famous faces included former Doctor Who stars Peter Davison and Sylvester McCoy, actors from Game of Thrones and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the cast of Red Dwarf and pro wrestlers Ricky Steamboat, Booker T and the Honky Tonk Man.

With the event expanding for two days for the first time, many fans used the opportunity to dress as some of their favourite fictional characters.

They also enjoyed a range of other activities including a comic book zone, gaming corner, cosplay and dozens of stalls with merchandise.

Gareth Bicknell, who attended the event on Saturday, said: “I took along my seven-year-old son and he had a great time.

“There were people dressed in costume from their favourite film and TV shows, and there was a fantastic atmosphere.

“I especially enjoyed the Dr Who Q&A which featured some of the previous Doctor Whos and was very funny.”

Chester will host its own Comic Con later this year. The event will take place at Chester Racecourse on September 25, with guests to be announced soon.
