The cast of Entertaining Mr Sloane by Joe Orton were delighted to welcome the play’s sponsor, Steve Lowe of commercial insurance brokers, Risk Services, to a rehearsal at Chester Little Theatre.

Entertaining Mr Sloane is a comedy featuring the handsome but slightly sinister Mr Sloane, played by John Henry while Ray Bengree plays Ed, jealous brother to Kath, played by Jo Perry.

Their father is played by John McGinn who struggles to tell his son and daughter – both swept away by fascination with Mr Sloane – that the attractive young man is not as innocent as he appears.

The play is directed by award-winning director Delyse Rostron, who said: “As with many of Joe Orton’s plays, the humour and wit is laced with darkness and violence.

“The play contains adult themes and caused a sensation when it was first premiered in 1964. It remains one of his most popular plays and can still pack several punches today.”

Entertaining Mr Sloane can be seen at The Little Theatre, Gloucester Street, Chester from Saturday, May 9 and then from Monday, May 11 to Saturday, May 16 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £8.50, concessions £7 on first Saturday, Monday and Tuesday evenings, obtainable online at www.chestertheatreclub.co.uk or by telephone on TicketSource 0333 666 3366.
