Chelsea Flower Show gold medal winner and clematis expert Raymond Evison will be at Gordale Garden and Home Centre, Burton, on Sunday.

Raymond will be holding court as part of Gordale’s free annual Clematis Weekend event over the weekend, between 11am-4pm.

Raymond is there on Sunday only and will be holding a series of talks at 11.30am and 2.30pm.

In 1995, Raymond was awarded RHS Victoria Medal of Honour for outstanding service to British horticulture. This was followed by an OBE (2000) for service to horticulture and the RHS Cory Memorial Cup in 2005 for far-reaching work in breeding and developing new clematis cultivars.

Having written several books on the subject, his first book, Making the Most of Clematis (1977) is now in its third reprint.

Raymond has won more than 20 gold medals at The Chelsea Flower Show, with eight Chelsea gold medals for exhibits of clematis cultivars.

Also, as part of the Gordale Clematis Weekend event, clematis enthusiast Simon Catterall from Garden Centre Plants will be attending on Saturday.

He will be on hand to offer help and advice on choosing and growing clematis.
