Four of the region’s leading chefs have announced they will be appearing at Southport Flower Show’s North West Food Festival this August.
Lisa Allen, Justine Forrest, Brian Mellor and Jay Tinker will be attending the show and taking to their stoves, demonstrating how to cook some of their signature dishes.
Chef Lisa Allen is the head chef in Michelin starred Northcote. She was involved in BBC Two’s popular Great British Menu and was chosen to cook her starter of Wild Rabbit and Leek Turnover with Piccalilli to no less than Prince Charles at the banquet in celebration of the National Trust. She will be demonstrating some traditional British favourites at the show.
Justine Forrest won the TV series Michael Winner’s Dining Stars and is a specialist in how to create great tasting food which will help sheds the pounds; she will be talking about how to create healthy but tasty dishes.
Brian Mellor is an award winning Master Chef of Great Britain, former head chef at the BBC and executive chef at Granada TV.
He has been involved in almost everything to do with food from cooking privately for celebrities and royalty to overseeing dozens of chefs in busy restaurants.
He will be giving an insight into the types of lessons that go on at his own Harthill Cookery School in Cheshire.
Jay Tinker, owner of Tinkers, in Aughton, is a previous star of Master Chef and well known local restaurateur.
The North West Food Festival is a key element of this year’s Southport Flower Show and is being led by celebrity chef and patron of the show Simon Rimmer, from Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch.
Visitors to the show will get to see the celebrity chefs in action, demonstrating their favourite dishes in a full working kitchen supplied by In-toto Kitchens Southport. There will also be more than 60 gourmet producers at the festival, offering visitors the opportunity to sample and buy produce.
Southport Flower Show runs from the August 15-18 at Victoria Park.
Visitors will be surrounded by more than one million blooms, more than 350 exhibitors and 16 show gardens. TV presenter Carol Vorderman will have the honour of presenting prizes to the winners.
In addition to the North West Food Festival, the show also boasts the North West Book Festival, a host of celebrity guests and live music and entertainment.
Tickets bought in advance cost just £16, which is £5 off the gate price on the day and children under 16 go free.
