Tip Top Productions are well under way with rehearsals for the Tony Award winning play The God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza, to be performed at the Forum Studio Theatre in Chester from March 19-22.

Set in one 90 minute act, the whole play brims with acid wit and sarcastic insight as two couples meet to sort out a playground altercation involving their 11-year-old sons.

Both couples try to position this playground violence in the best possible light for their son. It lasts about a minute before cracks start to appear and finger pointing takes over.

Yazmina Reza peels away the veneer of social convention to assert her key point - people are beasts!

Playing one couple are Julian Eyre and Anna Morris. No strangers to the Chester stage, Julian, playing smooth international lawyer Alain, says his business suit costume is a “heck of a lot easier than his previous costume as the Pirate King in the Pirates of Penzance!”

Anna, playing his wife Annette, has had notable success over the years as a performer and director with Guilden Sutton Players and Chester Operatic and performed at the Edinburgh Festival in Gail Young’s sell-out production of Cheshire Cats.

A French teacher at Chester Queen’s School, Anna has loved being involved with the play, and has developed a very clever trick up her sleeve which is crucial to the play - all to be revealed!
