Swing group Five Star Swing brings the dynamic live sound of the Glenn Miller era to life with The Big Band show which comes to the Lyceum Theatre in Crewe on Wednesday, April 9 at 7.30pm.

The Big Band promises a host of classic songs from the era where swing was king, recreating favourites from Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra, along with modern compositions in the style of late night king Jools Holland and many more.

In addition to a talented multi-piece orchestral band, The Big Band features vocalist and alto saxophonist Simone Smith.

Simone previously performed with high profile artists including Paul Weller, John Williams, the Ivy Benson Show Band and saxophone solo appearance with Paul Merton.

Bandleader Chris Smith, who also plays piano in the show, is renowned in the world of jazz performance for arrangements and compositions.

His pieces can be frequently heard on Jazz FM and BBC Radio Big Band.

Smith’s career has included performances with Herb Miller, appearances on Top of the Pops and a solo performance in the Michael Caine film Silver Bears.

The Big Band also features an appearance by saxophonist Keith Hutton, who has previously performed with Frank Sinatra and trombonist Michael Innes who has performed with Tony Bennett and Shirley Bassey.

The talented vocalists and musicians bring an exciting repertoire to Crewe, with a stylish ability to perform favourites from Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller and more of the jazz world favourites, all the way through to songs by modern artists including Robbie Williams, Jamie Cullum and Jools Holland.

The Big Band swings into the Lyceum Theatre in Crewe on Wednesday, April 9 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £18.50 for stalls and circle, £16.50 for the gallery. Concessions are available. There is a £1.50 booking fee per ticket.
