Chester-born George Nott has been named in the England Under-20s squad for the upcoming Six Nations.

The 19-year-old lock, who plays for Aviva Premiership club Sale Sharks, is part of a 32-man squad as England look to defend the title they won in 2015.

Jon Callard will lead the campaign as interim head coach following Ian Peel's move to Saracens and appointed as scrum coach for the senior England team.

Former King's School pupil Nott, who has made two first-team appearances for Sale, came through the ranks at Chester RUFC and has returned to Hare Lane this season on a dual-registration arrangement as part of his development.

Last year’s Six Nations went down to the wire with the game against France on the final weekend becoming a title decider. England’s 24-11 victory nudged them ahead on points, making it four title wins in five years.

England kick-off the 2016 championship against Scotland at Glasgow’s Broadwood Stadium on February 5 before taking on Italy a week later at the Stadio Pacifici in San Dona' Di Piave.

Callard's side welcome Ireland to Newcastle's Kingston Park on Feburary 26 and meet Wales at Ashton Gate in Bristol on March 11 before travelling to Pau's Stade du Hameau to face France on March 18.

Callard said: "The mission for this group is to make other people shine. It is about players being individually the best they can be, making the others the best they want to be.

"This comes from having a strong work ethic and a team focus. We want to put the right processes in place to play exciting international rugby and to develop these aspiring international players for the future senior team.

“The final preparations ahead of a championship are always the most challenging with competition now just weeks away.

"Facing a fired up Scotland team in Glasgow on the first weekend will be a good test for these players - the first game is always exciting and will give us a good understanding of where we are at as a squad."
