YET more silverware has landed in the Hare Lane trophy cabinet.

Chester RUFC’s hugely successful season continued at the weekend when the club’s third team secured promotion from the Raging Bull North West League Division Three South.

They signed off with a 41-21 victory over Warrington 3rds on Saturday – a fitting way to say farewell to captain/player-coach Gavin Woolgar in what was his final game for the team.

The club’s senior colts (under 19s) were also celebrating after they defeated Broughton Park 11-8 in the Raging Bull Cup final, played at Sandbach RUFC.

The contest was settled in the last minute when scrum-half Piero Dominguez – son of former Italy international and Stade Francais fly-half Diego Dominguez – kicked a penalty.

Piero plays in the 1st XV at Ellesmere College with the son of Chester Senior Colts head coach Nick Joseph, so he was signed up by the Hare Lane club this season.

“He is heading off to play rugby in Paris next season, hoping to follow in his dad’s footsteps,” said Nick.

Chester’s first team are newly-crowned champions of National League Division Three North.
