Wallasey 57 Helsby 0

THE league leaders put on a wonderful display of attacking rugby which was too much for Helsby on Saturday.

The match pitted the top side in South Lancs/Cheshire Three against the team at the foot of the table – and it went to form, with Wallasey running in nine unanswered tries.

Helsby had lost by just a single score in their previous meeting with Wallasey, but Saturday’s game was nothing like as close.

The visitors got off to the worst possible start when their kick-off attempt did not travel the required 10 metres. From the resulting scrum, Wallasey worked a set move to open the scoring.

Helsby never recovered. Every time they had some territory, they tended to lose the ball at the vital moment.

Wallasey took full advantage and raced into a 31-0 lead by half-time.

More of the same followed in the second half, with the Wirral hosts adding another four tries to their tally.

For Helsby, new scrum-half Denzel Davies had an impressive debut.

Luke Ryder acquitted himself well at full-back but Lyndon English pipped him to the man of the match award.
Helsby travel to Parkonians this Saturday.
In the University of Salford League, Christleton had a walkover win against West Park 3rds, who conceded the fixture. The Chester side are away to Waterloo 3rds this Saturday.
