Nic Corrigan watched his  Chester side run in six tries  against Luctonians but has  warned tougher tests await.

Two tries from flanker Mike Craven  and scores from Sean Green, Tom  Foden, Will Nelson and Tom Evans  secured a bonus-point win at Hare  Lane.

Having started the season in red-hot  form, Chester endured a miserable  October but have bounced back with  successive wins.

Director of rugby Corrigan wants  his players to build on those victories  against ambitious Darlington  Mowden Park this weekend.

He said: “It was pleasing to get  another win and the performance in  the first half against Luctonians was  very good.

“Now we have got to move forward  and we have a massive challenge this  week in Darlington Mowden Park.

“We have got to prove that we have  got the consistency to perform at the  required level each week.”

Darlington Mowden Park play in  the 25,000-seater Darlington Arena,  but most of the seats will be empty.

Corrigan does not believe playing in  such a big ground will have any affect  on his players.

He said: “For me the  reality is that  we will be more focused on what is on  the pitch and to me an empty stadium  is just an empty stadium.”

Sean Green gave Chester the perfect  start against Luctonians, crossing for  the opening try after just two  minutes.

Corrigan’s side went further in  front on 10 minutes through Will  Nelson, following good work from  Rhys Hayes and Tom Evans.

Chester were now well in control  and flanker Mike Craven extended  the lead again on 17 minutes.

Luctonians stemmed the tide but  found the home defence tough to  break down.

Chester reasserted their authority  on 38 minutes when Hayes created an  opening for try-scorer Evans.

Corrigan’s men continued to press  and added a fifth try on half time with  Tom Foden stepping through to send  Chester into the break 27-0 in front.

With a big crowd behind them,  Chester appeared well placed to build  on an impressive opening 40.

But the visitors produced a much  more resolute performance in the  second half.

Chester did manage an early score  when Craven spun off the back of a  maul to register his second on 53  minutes, but that was as good as it got  for the hosts.

Some strong carries in the forwards  allowed Luctonians to cross the  whitewash on 58 minutes to make the  score 32-5.

Chester were lacking the cohesion  and patience in attack that had  proved so effective in the first half  and on 68 minutes Luctonians broke  from deep before recycling the ball  quickly for a second try.

Corrigan was particularly impressed with the performances of  some of his senior players in the  comprehensive win.

He said: “Mike Craven is playing  really well for us at the moment and  when I talk about performances, I am  looking for that x-factor,” he said.

“Sean Green gave us that in the  back-line and our loose-head prop  Gaz Smith was very good at the start  of the game.”

Corrigan’s hopes of returning from  the North East with the points will be  boosted by the luxury of having a  near fully-fit squad to choose from.

Young forward George Nott came  off injured against Luctonians but  has been declared fit.

Chester 2nds travelled to struggling Altrincham Kersal in the Bateman BMW Premier Division and returned home victorious after a 21-17  win.

Christleton returned to winning  ways with a narrow 24-22 success at  Winnington Park 2nds in Division  Three South.

Struggling Helsby went down 35-7  against Liverpool University in  South Lancs and Cheshire Three.
