Christleton RUFC sealed promotion and the Division Three South title with a resounding 53-0 win at Broughton Park 3rds.

The Swans knew beforehand victory would result in promotion but were able to celebrate the championship too when confirmation came through nearest challengers Winnington Park 2nds had suffered a surprise defeat.

Christleton produced a clinical display at the weekend, strong in the scrum and line-out, and seizing on scoring opportunities.

Winger Gaz Roberts helped himself to four tries with further scores from captain Tim Harvey, Matt Bryan, Lee Roddy and Duncan Holland, and some accurate kicking from Jim Taylor.

Swans spokesman Stuart Sams said: “It’s been a great season all round. The title was secured with a game to spare, having scored the most points, the best defence, and an unbeaten home record.

“Other results went our way, and we discovered we had won the league, sparking unexpected celebrations.

"The club has grown massively throughout the season, and will continue to grow with big plans in partnership with the RFU and local authorities. We would welcome anyone to come and join our very big and growing family.”
