BOXING: VAUXHALL Motors ABC are celebrating after the club's youngsters bagged four gold medals at the second annual Bolton Box Cup at the weekend.

The treasure trove of honours represents an excellent return for the club who entered seven boxers and also had novices Tom Riley and Carl McCloud waiting on the sidelines after their opponents let them down.

Martin Jones struck gold with victory over Londoner Robert Smith of Newham while Adam Wynne lived up to his name by defeating Oldham Boys' Byranha Rohan to take first place.

Buster Exell took the honours against Sam Compton, also Oldham Boys, while Paul Butler completed the gold rush with a win over an old adversary, Stephen Cosgrove of Hartlepool Catholic.

Mason Cartwright secured a silver medal after coming through contests on back-to-back days.

On Saturday, Mason beat Owen Trainer of Altrincham but was beaten in Sunday's final by Gemini's Connor O'Brien.

Also taking part were Lee Kirwin and Dion Green.
