TWIN sisters at a Chester high school are making a real splash in the world of water polo.

Bishops’ High students Charlie and Tilly Penney, 15, have been called up to the Great Britain junior squad after a rapid rise in the sport they took up when they were members of City of Chester Swimming Club.

The girls joined the club when were toddlers and went on to swim at county age group level.

But it was not until aged 11 that they began to play water polo at the City Baths.

Under the guidance of Chester’s water polo coaches Peter and Jane Fisher, and with a helping hand from their school, the potential of Charlie and Tilly soon became clear.

After representing Cheshire at junior level, they became the youngest players ever to represent City of Liverpool in the National Water Polo League after moving to the Merseyside club.

And having progressed through the North West and England ranks, Charlie and Tilly are now part of the GB junior girls set up and looking forward to attending weekend training camps around the country and forthcoming competitions in Hungary and Spain.
