FARSLEY produced a smash and grab raid at Rivacre Park last night to win 2-1 in the Nationwide North after the Motormen had done everything but score until it was too late.

Vauxhalls were much the brighter side for most of the contest.

In the first half, McMahon saw a powerful header cleared off the line by defender Walls before Farsley keeper Cuss made two fine saves to deny Rooney and Whittaker, while a host of other efforts were just off target.

But the Motormen had a let off early in the second half when Grant wasted a great opportunity lifting his shot over the bar.

Whittaker then twice went close before the home side were rocked in the 74th minute, when following a corner a goalmouth melee ended with substitute Reeves prodding the ball over the line from close range. Seven minutes from time a great Vauxhall move ended with substitute Martindale dragging his shot wide from 12 yards with only Cuss to beat.

As Vauxhalls piled forward in search of an equaliser, Farsley broke away to net a neat second on 88 minutes through Sanasy.

The Motormen grabbed an injury-time consolation via Furlong, his header going in off an upright.
