ANGLING: JOHN Tyreman excelled in the Rake & Pikel AC match held on the lake at the Border Fishery.

A catch of small carp weighing 69-0-0 gave him a clear lead over Dave Maddocks with carp weighing 58-0-0.

Jason Connah won the Rivacre AC match on the Meadow Bank length of the Weaver. With skimmers and roach weighing 5-12-0 he bettered Chris King with bream for 3-8-0.

Caldy AC found the going hard on the Shrop-shire Union Canal at Tattenhall. Winner was Paul Robertson with eels and bream for 3-3-0 ahead of Rob Winstanley, having bits for 2-0-0.

Martin Berisford shared first place with Tony Johnson in the Piper AC match on the Cheshire Fishery. Both had carp catches weighing 27-10-0.

Steve Taylor rose to the challenge in the Greyhound Saughall AC match on the River Dane at Croxton Lane. Taking chub weighing 17-14-0 gave him the lead over Paul Edwards with chub and barbel for 12-8-0.

Cotebrook Mill Pool was Sunday's venue for the Tarporley AC match. Mike Pinnington won with tench for 10-10-0 ahead of Peter Boem with a bream and tench for 10-0-0.

Their Monday evening match was fished on Oulton Mill Pool. Richard Nelson took three carp to weigh 13-14-0

The Neston Match Anglers tried their luck on the Cheshire Fishery. Ted Evanson weighed with 13-0-0 to beat Billy Mason on 12-0-0.

John Murdoch led at the end of the Lavister AC match on the Western Pools Fishery at Oswestry with goldfish weighing 25-5-0.

Linda Cooke led at the end of the Wednesday evening match of the Lobol AC which they fished on their Priory Pool. Taking a mixed 6-6-0, she had the edge over Danny Boothroyd with crucians and skimmers for 4-8-0.

Kevin O'Hanlon won the Sunday match with his 8-10-0 of carp and skimmers, ahead of Sid Robinson with a carp based 8-6-0.

Peter Knight won through in the Helsby Sports and Social Club AC match on the BICC pools. Chub and crucians weighing 16-10-0 proved better than Malcolm Lightfoot with bream and crucians for 16-4-0.

Dave Allen was top rod in the Cheshire Police Flyfishers contest from boats on Lake Brenig. Dave's catch of five rainbows weighed 9-12-0. The following day on the same venue, the club fished in the regional eliminator for the Police Championship, which they won thanks to Ian Woods' six rainbows for 15-4-0. This qualifies them for a place in next year's police national match on the Chew Valley Lake, near Bristol.

The Willaston AC fished their match on the Whitwater Lake, with Garry Green winning with a 3-4-0 eel and carp for 23-0-0.

The Grosvenor Estate AC were in action on Eaton Hall's Serpentine with Ron Evans on top with quality tench and bream for 31-1-0.

St Theresa's AC fished last Sunday's match on the Milton Green Fishery. Winner was Andrew Griffiths with carp and barbel to weigh 24-5-0 to beat David Meaney with carp weighing 17-14-0.

The Saltney Social AC were fishing the Milton Green Fishery when Andy Williams won with carp weighing 23-6-0.

Holmston Hall was the venue for the Peg 1 AC match which went to Rob Pitchford. He took carp and crucians weighing 9-0-0.

Les Picken could not be caught in the Burton Mere Fishery Wednesday Open Match. Les took all carp to weigh 76-0-0 to better Garry Bough with carp for 51-8-0.

Mark Greasley netted top honours in the Chester Police AC match on Meadow Pool at the Hampton Springs Fishery. He had a bit of everything to weigh 23-12-0.

Barry Greenaway was top rod of the day in the Airbus Broughton Flyfishers match on the Tites-worth Reservoir. He netted five rainbows to weigh 10-3-0 including a fish of 3-4-0.

First went to Danny Stoneleigh in the Manley AC match held on the Manley Springs Fishery. His carp and tench weighed 11-8-0.

Jim Fellows could not be matched in the Castrol SAS match fished from a boat on the Hale Bank in the Mersey Estuary. His 8-8-0 fell to a whole mackerel.

Dave Randles Senior took first in Thursday's open match on the Lingmere Fishery. A mixed 57-0-0 put him up front. Steve Openshaw was the leader on Saturday, taking a carp-based 66-13-0.

Geoff Dentith won their Tuesday match with a mixed 13-6-0 ahead of Wendy Locker with 10-4-0 on the Tarvin Sands Fishery.
