GYMNASTICS: BUNBURY gymnast Beth Tweddle put her European heartbreak behind her with a hat-trick of gold medals on home soil at Liverpool after 2000 Olympic Bronze medallists China came to Britain with a full squad for the first time.

Tweddle made a brave comeback in the international friendly just 20 days after her European disaster in Debrecen, Hungary.

There, the 20-year-old was leading the field on the asymmetric bars and floor and was second in the all-around qualifications, but a freak fall during her warm-up on the bars saw her rushed to hospital and forced to withdraw from the event.

But she was the star on Sunday, winning gold medals on vault, A bars and floor in a tie with 2003 World Champion Fan Ye, who also took gold on the beam.

In the team event on Saturday, Tweddle top-scored and led by example as she skippered the GB team to a historic victory over China by 0.075 points.
