RUNCORN Women's Hockey Club completed a unique treble when they brought home the trophy from a county champion-ship.

The Runcorn girls won the Cheshire Women's Hockey League tournament for the third year in a row on Saturday.

To complete the victory, they conquered teams from Northop Hall, Poynton, Wilmslow, Bebington, Warrington and Knutsford.

Having played all these teams in the past year either in the league or friendlies, the girls knew they were in a pretty good position to impress.

Each match was 15 minutes one way, with the girls needing to score as many goals as possible during play with four points for a win.

A spokeswoman for the club said: 'A great day was had by all, and the team and their supporters celebrated after the match at Frodsham fair!

'Well done to the girls - a great start to the season. Let's keep up this fantastic record.'
